In May 1959, Bernard Haitink and Eugen Jochum conduct 4 concerts during a tour to Great Britain. In November 1959, the Sinfonie Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks visits Amsterdam again and is conducted by its own master.

On September 1, 1961 Eugen Jochum and Bernard Haitink are both appointed Principal Conductor of the Concertgebouworkest, Amsterdam.
